Private universities grew from 219 to 546, while government university numbers increased by just over 45 percent. Gujarat led the growth with an increase of 51 institutions, followed by Madhya Pradesh. While private universities are expanding rapidly, government universities still enroll the majority of students, but their share has declined from nearly four-fifths to just over two-thirds. India's Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) for the 18-23 age group increased from 23.0 in 2013-14 to 30.0 in 2023-24.
4 Of Family Killed After Car Crashes Into Parked Truck In Madhya Pradesh's Umaria
Four members of a family, including two women and a child, were killed when their car crashed into a stationary truck in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district early Thursday morning. The accident occurred near Bharula village while the victims, residents of Lilhatola, were traveling to Chitrakoot pilgrimage center. The ASP Alok Kumar Sharma reported five deaths initially but later clarified that one woman was revived after CPR at the district hospital. She is currently in serious condition and has been referred to Katni District Hospital.
