NIOT scientists developed a wave propulsion-based vertical profiler (WVP) to collect real-time conductivity, temperature, and depth (CTD) data to improve oceanographic monitoring.

The WVP uses buoys to power its movement and is designed to replace multiple sensors with a single device. A one-week trial was successfully conducted off the coast of India, with future prototypes to be installed in two buoys.
