Fadnavis raises farm loan waiver to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 50,000

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday that farmers who benefited under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana would now be eligible for a loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh, instead of the previously announced Rs 50,000, under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar farm loan waiver scheme. This decision follows criticism over stringent eligibility conditions and pressure from MLAs. The relaxation aims to benefit more farmers who faced debt after availing crop loans between 2022-23 and 2024-25.
