Unity in diversity: On the INDIA bloc meeting

Twenty-three Opposition parties, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Trinamool Congress, met in New Delhi on Monday to address concerns about economic distress, inflation, and educational chaos. The bloc resolved to write to the Chief Justice of India over electoral fraud allegations, demand the resignation of the Union Education Minister, call for an all-party meeting to discuss the economic crisis, agree to hold coordination meetings every two months, and commit to daily parliamentary coordination during sessions. The meeting followed recent fissures within the alliance, including the absence of the DMK and the Aam Aadmi Party, highlighting the fragility of the coalition. Despite these challenges, there is a broad consensus on the need to checkmate the BJP for political survival and the health of Indian democracy.
