Breathe Pakistan: Law minister decries ‘lack of will’ in tackling climate crisis - Pakistan

Pakistan's law minister, Azam Nazeer Tarar, criticized the lack of will to address the climate crisis. The second Breathe Pakistan International Climate Change Conference, organized by DawnMedia, brought together policymakers and stakeholders to discuss solutions for a more resilient future. Experts highlighted the vulnerability of Pakistan due to climate change, emphasizing the need for coordinated action from both the federal and provincial governments. Major Gen Shahid Nazir, CEO of the Green Pakistan Initiative, stressed the importance of shifting agricultural practices to mitigate climate impacts. Dr Zeelaf Munir, CEO of English Biscuit Manufacturers and chairperson of the Pakistan Business Council, emphasized that food security is directly linked to a robust supply chain. The conference also addressed the need for investing in soft infrastructure like water governance and data collection to address water risks.
