BJP-led NDA scores hat-trick in Assam
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a historic victory in the Assam Assembly elections, winning 102 of 126 seats to retain power for a third consecutive term. The BJP's regional allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), also performed well, winning 10 and 10 seats respectively. The Congress party suffered its worst performance since losing power in 2016, winning only 19 seats. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who retained his Jalukbari seat, is now considered one of the BJP's most prominent leaders in Assam.
