Farmers in the Anthiyur constituency of Tamil Nadu are facing persistent challenges related to water scarcity, healthcare access, and economic hardship. They have long demanded desilting of the Varattupallam reservoir, integration of water management schemes, and improved infrastructure such as roads and electricity. V.P. Gunasekaran, from the Tamil Nadu Tribal Peoples’ Association, emphasizes the need for local livelihood opportunities to address poverty and migration.
