The party secured 209 seats in the 350-member parliament, while Jamaat-e-Islami emerged as the main opposition with 68 seats. The National Citizen Party (NCP), formed by protesters, won six seats. Voter turnout was 59.88 percent, and the BNP claimed victory, stating it will not celebrate but hold prayers at mosques nationwide. The party's leader, Rahman, is expected to become the next prime minister after official results are confirmed. A referendum on the July Charter, aimed at reforming state institutions, also saw a majority in favor of its adoption.
