Stir against rural jobs Bill to be decentralised, widespread, says NREGA Morcha
NREGA Sangharsh Morcha, a coalition of NGOs and unions, is organizing a decentralized campaign against the new Gramin Employment Guarantee Bill (VB-G RAM G). The first round of protests will be held on Republic Day across the country, with a focus on having gram panchayats pass resolutions opposing the legislation. Nikhil Dey, founder member of Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan, believes this campaign has the potential to be the largest decentralised agitation in the world. The NREGA Sangharsh Morcha also organized a national convention for workers, with Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge addressing attendees.
