Congress launches 45-day ‘MGNREGA Bachao Sangram’ against new rural jobs legislation
The Congress launched a nationwide campaign, "MGNREGA Bachao Sangram," opposing the replacement of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) with the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G) law. The campaign aims to restore the original MGNREGA, which guarantees employment rights, strengthens panchayats, and ensures accountability in implementation. The party plans a phased mobilization across rural and urban areas with protests, sit-ins, rallies, and chaupals (village gatherings).
