Telangana-wide agitation against changes to MGNREGS; Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi to be invited

A. Revanth Reddy, Telangana's Chief Minister, announced a statewide campaign against proposed changes to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and voter rights, citing concerns about weakening of the poor and minority groups. He accused the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government of undermining the scheme and using its legislative strength for corporate interests. He stated that he would be organizing massive public meetings in nine districts starting February 3rd with senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi. The Chief Minister also urged party workers to participate in Gram Sabhas, protests during Parliament's Budget Session, and door-to-door campaigning.
