Mamata says she will move court on January 6 against 'inhumane' conduct of SIR

Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, announced plans to file a court petition against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, claiming it has resulted in deaths and hospitalizations due to fear, harassment, and administrative arbitrariness. She alleged that names were being arbitrarily struck from voter lists without valid reasons, creating a climate of fear ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Banerjee also criticized the BJP for allegedly discriminating against Bengali-speaking migrant workers and using pre-election sops followed by repression after winning power.
