Centre unveils 184 ‘climate-resilient’ seed varieties to boost output

The Indian government unveiled 184 high-yielding and climate-resilient seed varieties across 25 crops, developed by ICAR, universities, and private entities. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the country's rise as the world's largest rice producer, surpassing China. He highlighted the government's commitment to boosting crop production and farmer income through these new varieties, while also defending the recently passed Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill against accusations of corruption from the Congress party.
