CITU conference condemns VB-G RAM G, SHANTI Acts, Labour Codes

The 18th All India Conference of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) passed resolutions demanding the repeal of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, and the restoration of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Tapan Sen, general secretary of the CITU, criticized the new act as a "retrograde enactment" that undermines the federal structure of the Constitution by burdening state governments with excessive costs. The CITU also condemned the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Act, 2025, calling it dangerous and anti-people legislation that dilutes safety and workers' rights.
