Scientists at ICAR-NIANP in Bengaluru are developing a technique to retrieve and grow preantral follicles (immature eggs) to preserve fertility in cancer patients and enhance assisted reproduction.

Researchers at the National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology (NIANP) are focusing on preantral follicles, which naturally degenerate inside the ovary. The technology has successfully produced the first buffalo embryo using eggs grown from these follicles and is being adapted for larger domestic animals.
