BLO’s body found in Bengal, work-related pressure alleged; SIR anxiety claimed over 50 lives: TMC

A Booth Level Officer (BLO), Haradhan Mandal, was found dead in Ranibandh block, West Bengal on Sunday (December 28, 2025). The police recovered a note from the scene indicating that Mandal attributed his death to work pressure related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Abhishek Banerjee, TMC national general secretary, accused the BJP of "bulldozing" the SIR process and claimed over 50 lives have been lost due to the pressure. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Mandal's death.
