
Woman Faces Charges for Anti-Modi Remarks; Party Spokesperson Criticizes Legal Action
On July 23, Ruchika Singh, a 25-year-old woman, made derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during protests at Jantar Mantar. A Zero FIR was registered under Sections 352, 353(1), and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for provoking breach of peace and defamation. The case has been transferred to Parliament Street Police Station. Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Saurav Das criticized using criminal machinery against protesters, while Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood said legal action would not be taken against those arrested in the protests except those with a criminal history.
