Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress, questioned the Election Commission of India's (ECI) decision to appoint micro observers in West Bengal during a special intensive revision (SIR) process despite the state having the lowest voter deletions. He criticized the ECI for not publishing the list of 1.36 crore people flagged for logical discrepancies, and asked why they are not sending show cause notices to these alleged "infiltrators." Banerjee plans to meet with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in New Delhi on December 31st and protest if his demands are not met. He also announced that the party will hold protests from January 2nd across West Bengal.
