On July 27, 2026, the Bihar government announced it would withdraw all cases against protesters over the NEET paper leak and release those jailed. The State’s Home Department issued a statement saying no punitive action would be taken against participants in protests before 6 p.m. on July 26. Altogether, 694 people were detained during the Bihar Bandh called by pro-Left students’ unions; after releasing minors, 355 faced trial. CPI(ML) Liberation MLA Sandeep Saurav and former minister Tej Pratap Yadav were among those arrested. The government initiated legal processes for withdrawing FIRs and releasing detainees immediately, ensuring no future action against protesters. AISA president Neha Bora had met DGP Vinay Kumar to seek withdrawal of cases and release of arrested individuals.
