On July 23, G. Parameshwara, Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to revoke NEET and restore merit-based State CETs for medical admissions. He also requested at least ₹1 crore compensation for families of students who died due to the NEET paper leak and systemic failures, and adequate compensation for those injured in protests. Dr. Parameshwara called for a dialogue with stakeholders to address comprehensive reforms and ordered an impartial inquiry into the lathi-charges against peaceful protesters. Published July 23, 2026.
