In the recent local body elections, Congress councillors were elected as chairpersons in several municipalities. Reetha Paul became chairperson of Angamaly municipality, while Saiji Jolly was elected chairperson of Aluva municipality. In Perumbavoor, Sangeetha K.S. was elected chairperson after a contentious election process. In Muvattupuzha, Joice Mary Antony was elected chairperson, and in Piravom, K.R. Pradeep Kumar was elected chairperson.
