Fadnavis Claims Pune Highways Will Cut Traffic Congestion by 30%

At the foundation stone laying ceremony for three elevated highways in Pune, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis claimed traffic congestion would reduce by 30 per cent post completion of these projects along with the Ring Road and High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR). The Hadapsar-Yavat corridor, at 31 km, will be India’s longest continuous elevated road. Expected to ease travel time by up to 50 minutes each way, these projects aim to integrate Metro planning for cost savings of up to 40 per cent and generate ₹1,000 crore in revenue. Fadnavis also discussed the proposed Purandar airport, which has seen significant farmer consent and compensation payments, expected to boost Pune’s GDP by 2-3 per cent. Additionally, he announced a ₹130 crore allocation for the Phata-Rajgurunagar road project.
