Catholic Bishops’ chief appeals to PM Modi, Amit Shah to ensure protection of Christians
Archbishop Andrews Thazhath, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and state chief ministers to ensure strict enforcement of law and provide proactive protection for Christian communities. The Archbishop expressed deep concern over the rise in attacks on Christians during Christmas, stating that such incidents deeply wound the spirit of India's Constitution and violate freedom of religion. Derek O’Brien, a TMC leader in Rajya Sabha, welcomed the message and criticized Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their silence on these incidents.
