MP Meets Migrants After Year-Long Deportation Battle

On July 15, 2026, Samirul Islam, a Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP, met Sweety Bibi and her family in Birbhum after they returned from Bangladesh following a year-long legal battle. The four Bengali migrants were detained by Delhi Police last year and deported but were brought back to India on July 8, 2026. Mr. Islam urged both central and state governments to protect genuine Indian citizens from such hardships.
