Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk joins CJP protest, starts hunger strike losing 8.9 kg
Sonam Wangchuk, climate activist and education reformer, joined the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar on May 22 to support students against NEET examination irregularities. His wife, Gitanjali J. Angmo, said he wanted to ensure the movement remains genuine and not derailed by "nefarious" elements. Wangchuk had previously protested for Ladakh’s constitutional safeguards and was detained under the National Security Act before being released on March 14. He is now on a hunger strike in solidarity with CJP's demands, having lost 8.9 kg since starting his fast.
