Andhra CM N. Chandrababu Naidu Announces Completion of 89% Polavaram Project

On July 13, 2026, N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced the completion of the Polavaram irrigation project and renovation of the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage (SACB) before Godavari Pushkarams-2027. He performed bhumi puja for new SACB gates at Dowleswaram and addressed farmers in Atreyapuram mandal, stating 89% of Polavaram project construction is complete. The renovation includes replacing existing electrical equipment and aims to prevent island erosion. Naidu also discussed spending ₹1,200 crore on Pushkarams facilities and developing Pichuka Lanka as a tourism spot. He did not address funding for the Konaseema railway line, advising Amalapuram MP G. Harish Mathur to follow up with the Centre.
