TMC Rejects Rebel Claim, Says Committees Valid Until 2027
The Mamata Banerjee-led All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) submitted a detailed response to the Election Commission of India, rejecting claims by the Ritabrata Banerjee faction that the party's organizational committees expired in 2025. The TMC MP, Kalyan Banerjee, stated that the AITC constitution was amended to extend the tenure from three to five years and that the existing committee remains valid until 2027. He also accused the rebel faction of violating party procedures by bypassing the multi-tier organizational process and contesting the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections on the TMC symbol, which he deemed invalid. The Election Commission will now assess both responses before deciding whether to lodge a dispute case.
