Punjab Congress MLAs Attend Akal Takht Proceedings on Guru Granth Sahib Act

Congress legislators appeared before the Akal Takht on June 29th to address the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. While their appearance was seen as a step towards reconciliation with Sikh institutions, it did not erase historical mistrust or replace consistent sensitivity and accountability. The event served as a symbolic gesture of respect for Sikh sentiments and the Akal Takht's authority on matters concerning Sikh communities. However, the Congress must demonstrate unity, discipline, and maturity within its own organization to sustain any progress made in rebuilding trust with Sikh voters.
