Ritabrata Banerjee faction takes over West Bengal TMC state office
A faction of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Ritabrata Banerjee took possession of their state party office in Kolkata, claiming to be the "real" TMC. The move followed a meeting with the Election Commission of India where they presented their claim over the party's organizational structure and leadership. The faction also hung a banner naming Arup Roy as chairman, while the Mamata Banerjee-led faction was present at the office but left after the dissidents entered. The Election Commission has asked both factions to submit their claims regarding the party's control by July 6th.
