Sonam Wangchuk begins hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, six students join
Sonam Wangchuk, an environmentalist and educator, began a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar on Sunday (June 28, 2026) demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), led by Abhijeet Dipke, has been protesting since June 20th, citing multiple irregularities in the examination system. The Delhi Police denied allegations that they cut off water and sanitation facilities at Jantar Mantar, while the AISA, which previously supported the CJP's protest, joined the hunger strike with six student activists demanding Pradhan’s resignation and the repeal of the National Education Policy 2020.
