Sonam Wangchuk launches hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in support of CJP protest

Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent activist, and six members of the All India Students’ Association (AISA) began a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar on Sunday in support of demands for education accountability and greater autonomy for Ladakh. Wangchuk, who had previously joined protests with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), stated that he was forced to take action due to the lack of accountability from the government. He also appealed to people to join the hunger strike and urged leaders to be empathetic and accountable. The protest comes after Wangchuk announced a plan for an indefinite hunger strike on June 28th unless demands are addressed. The CJP protest at Jantar Mantar entered its ninth day despite Delhi Police previously stating that the group had permission only until June 20th.
