CBI Attaches Rs 53 Crore Assets Of Former Assam Top Cop In Corruption Case
Abuse of power and potential suppression of justice are suggested.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has attached assets worth Rs 53 crore belonging to former Assam Police Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Prashanta Kumar Dutta. The properties, including hotels in Guwahati and buildings in Mumbai, are alleged to have been acquired between 1992 and 2019 during Dutta's service and are considered disproportionate to his known income sources. Dutta is facing charges in a disproportionate assets case and was dismissed from service following allegations of involvement in the Assam Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Question Paper Leak case. The CBI is continuing its efforts to recover assets linked to corruption and prosecute those accused of illegal wealth accumulation.
