New gates of Tungabhadra dam inaugurated

Patil, and representatives from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana gathered to celebrate the inauguration of 33 newly installed spillway gates at the Tungabhadra reservoir in Hosapete, Karnataka. The event marked a historic consensus among the three states to safeguard farmers' interests in the basin, addressing concerns about irrigation water availability and silt accumulation. The meeting followed last year’s crisis at the reservoir, where Gate No. 19 was washed out, prompting swift action from the government to ensure water security for farmers. The replacement of all spillway gates is seen as a long-term solution to maintain the reservoir's safety and address concerns about irrigation access in the command area.
