She cited personal reasons for her decision, stating she wants to focus on serving the people of Assam. This follows the resignation of another Trinamool Rajya Sabha member, Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, who also criticized the party's leadership in a press statement. Dev joined the Trinamool in 2021 after previously serving as an MP from Silchar in Assam.
