Gadchiroli farmers oppose airport, government pauses land acquisition
Farmers in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district protested against the land acquisition process for a proposed airport, demanding that no fertile agricultural land be acquired. Co-Guardian Minister Ashish Jaiswal visited the protest site and promised to respect public sentiments and maintain a balance between development and public interest. He assured farmers of a period exceeding 90 days for filing objections and that government officials would not visit villages during this time. The protests, which were called off after midnight, stemmed from concerns about land acquisition for development projects, including an airport and MIDC projects.
