Farmers in Gadchiroli are protesting against the government's land acquisition for an airport, industrial projects, and mining activities. The farmers allege that fertile farmland is being acquired without their consent or proper gram sabha approval. Vivek Khobragade, leader of the Azad Samaj Party, stated that over 6,000 farmers have joined the protest, demanding the cancellation of land acquisition for these projects and immediate measures to address the issue of wild elephants. Ashish Jaiswal, co-guardian minister of Gadchiroli, visited the protest site and assured farmers their concerns would be addressed. Avishyant Panda, the Gadchiroli Collector, stated that the land acquisition process provides stakeholders an opportunity to express their reservations but denied claims of misinformation and provocation.
