Humayun Kabir, a former Trinamool Congress leader who formed his own party, Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP), has offered to give Mamata Banerjee an assembly seat in Murshidabad if she requests it. Kabir won two seats in the recent election and now claims he can ensure her victory from Rejinagar by resigning. Banerjee, who lost her Bhabanipur seat, must win a by-election to return to the state assembly.
