Trinamool Congress (TMC) expelled MLA Sandipan Saha claims that 58 rebel MLAs elected Ritabrata Banerjee as Leader of Opposition after signing an attendance register which was later presented as a resolution, alleging forgery. The rebellion has plunged the party into its gravest internal crisis since its inception, with the rebels securing recognition from the Assembly Speaker and forming their own leadership structure. Saha claims that he and other dissidents were silenced within the party and forced to raise concerns through social media.
