Jammu and Kashmir leaders ask Omar Abdullah government to follow steps of Tamil Nadu CM Vijay on liquor ban

Dr. Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference, stated that a complete ban on liquor sales in Jammu and Kashmir is not feasible due to revenue loss concerns, while opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and J&K Apni Party urged the government to follow Tamil Nadu's example by closing down liquor shops. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Kashmir chief cleric, argued that alcohol consumption is socially and religiously discouraged in the region and called for a complete ban on liquor sales to combat drug networks and societal harm.
