ECI set to roll out phase III of SIR in ‘coming days’ to cover 22 States, UTs
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to begin phase three of its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter list process in the coming days, covering nearly 40 crore electors across 17 states and five UTs. This follows completion of SIR in 10 states and three UTs previously, which has successfully removed over 60 lakh deceased voters from the rolls. The ECI had initially delayed the rollout due to Assembly elections in several states but is now proceeding with the revision process. The exercise aims to ensure accurate voter lists for upcoming elections.
