Will hear Trinamool pleas on victory margins being less than deleted votes in SIR, says Supreme Court

Mamata Banerjee, leader of the Trinamool Congress, appeared before the Supreme Court on Monday, May 11, 2026, to argue that deletions made during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal affected election results. Senior advocate Kalyan Bandhopadhyay argued that in some seats, the BJP's victory margin was less than the number of votes deleted. The court asked for an application from Banerjee to address the issue and promised to seek information about pending appeals from the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. The Supreme Court also gave the National Investigation Agency two months to complete its probe into the case of seven judicial officers who were gheraoed in Malda on April 1.
