Four killed in post-election violence in India’s West Bengal | Elections News
Following the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sweeping victory in West Bengal's state election, at least four people have been killed in political unrest. The BJP claimed two of its workers were killed while the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) party reported two of their workers being beaten to death. The violence erupted after the results were announced and included clashes between rival supporters in Kolkata and other districts, with allegations of vandalism and attacks on party offices from both sides. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed state officials to enforce “zero tolerance” towards post-poll violence.
