Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: CPI suffers major setback, seat count halved
The Communist Party of India (CPI) secured only eight seats in the recent Assembly elections, a significant decline from its 2021 performance. K. Rajan, P. Prasad, and G.R. Anil won their respective constituencies comfortably, while J. Chinchurani lost to an UDF candidate. The party also lost several of its traditional seats. Despite the loss, the CPI State Council accepted the people's mandate and pledged to introspect and correct any lapses during the LDF government’s tenure.
