The Returning Officer did not declare a winner after the verification and recounting process, which reduced Raje Gowda's tally by 255 votes. The Returning Officer submitted the report to the Election Commission of India as per court instructions. Jeevaraj claimed victory based on increased votes, while Raje Gowda alleged tampering with ballots. The Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that they would fight in court and called it a conspiracy against democracy. The Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok demanded that Jeevaraj be declared the winner.
