M. Sai Kumar to be Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary; Sandeep Mittal to head Armed Police, DVAC
EC transferring top officials based on political pressure raises concerns.
Election Commission (EC) of India transferred Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and appointed his successor, M. Sai Kumar. The EC also appointed senior IPS officer Sandeep Mittal as the Director-General of Police (DGP), Armed Police, and Director (in-charge), Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. DMK President M.K. Stalin criticized the transfers, calling them "arbitrary" and a "political act" and accusing the EC of acting in favor of the BJP. He also stated that these actions reflect the abuse of power by the government and are detrimental to fair elections.
