Hope for Bengal electors pending under adjudication, but uncertainty over redressal at tribunals

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and the Supreme Court heard updates on the ongoing electoral roll revision process in West Bengal. The Calcutta High Court reported that nearly 47 lakh claims out of 60 lakh were already disposed of, with the remaining cases expected to be resolved by April 7th. The Election Commission of India notified tribunals presided over by former Chief Justices and judges of High Courts for electors whose names are struck off during adjudication, but these tribunals have yet to begin functioning. The total number of deletions is estimated at around 87 lakh, potentially leading to a voter roll below 7 crore voters before the upcoming elections.
