Statues of Kakori martyrs razed in U.P.; Oppn. terms it ‘insult’ to freedom fighters

Samajwadi Party (SP) and U.P. Congress leaders condemned the demolition of statues of freedom fighters Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Roshan Singh in Shahjahanpur during road construction work. The incident sparked outrage, with SP district president Tanveer Khan alleging that the statues were demolished to remove a plaque bearing his name. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav called it a “disturbing mindset” while U.P. Congress chief Ajay Rai demanded strict action against those responsible for the demolition.
