The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP(SP)) announced its candidates for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. A.K. Saseendran, Minister for Forest and Wildlife, will be contesting from Elathur, while Thomas K. Thomas will represent Kuttanad and K.T. Mujeeb Malappuram. Despite opposition from some party members, including the Kozhikode district committee, the NCP(SP) national leadership has chosen to support Saseendran's candidacy.
