ST quota: Valmiki/ Nayakas likely to move against reduction in reservation from 7% to 3%

The State government is facing pressure from various communities, including the Valmiki community, to maintain their reservation quotas in upcoming recruitment. Valmiki Prasannanandapuri Swami, a prominent leader of the community, will be leading a movement to protect their interests after consultations with political representatives and community members across the state. The Valmikis are concerned about the reduction of their reservation quota from 7% to 3%, while smaller tribes who have not benefited from existing reservations fear further marginalization. The Karnataka High Court is currently hearing cases related to both internal reservation and the enhancement of reservation for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, adding complexity to the situation.
