Mamata’s dharna in Kolkata is an attempt to disrupt SIR: West Bengal BJP
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal's Chief Minister, for staging a dharna against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Swapan Dasgupta, a BJP leader, stated that the dharna was an attempt to disrupt the SIR and instigate chaos in Kolkata. He also claimed that the BJP's Parivartan Yatra aims to expose Ms. Banerjee's alleged "assault on justice" and empower voters to choose a new leader in the upcoming elections. Abhishek Banerjee, Firhad Hakim, and other Trinamool Congress leaders joined Ms. Banerjee at the dharna, protesting against the wrongful deletions of names and 60 lakh voters left in limbo under the SIR process. The final voter list was published on February 28th with 7.04 crore voters, but 60 lakh remain under consideration.
